For a low-carb keto dinner, have wild salmon with the skin on (it’s high in fish oil, which you need). Add lots of herbs, lemon juice and some steamed beans and you have a healthy dinner in minutes. Try to eat it slowly so you can enjoy this delicious food.

One thing to remember when on the keto diet is to not drink liquids 15 minutes before and 45 minutes after each meal. You don’t want to dilute the hydrochloric acid in your stomach with water. Stronger acidity means better digestion, less gas and more energy from every meal! A glass of water or a cup of coffee 20 minutes before a meal is fine.

*Remember that you only buy low-carb foods that are “grass-fed”, with no added sugar. Avoid artificial sweeteners and stick to those approved for the keto diet, such as stevia and monk fruit sweeteners.
Choose only grass-fed, pasture-raised meats and poultry. Remember that yellow fat is better than white fat or no fat. Meat and poultry should be your primary protein source for a keto diet.
Another great source of protein is seafood. Fish is considered a source of healthy omega-3 fats. Where is this healthy fat stored? In the skin! So, buy wild-caught fish with the skin on (and ask for the head, bones and fins too, so you can make a healthier broth).
Not all vegetable oils are healthy. Stay away from canola, soy, corn and cottonseed oil in particular. Most of these are genetically modified organisms and are actually banned in EU countries for health reasons.

Also, avoid using vegetable oil for cooking. All of them burn easily and some percent form carcinogenic thick polymer chains that cannot be digested. Avocado oil and refined coconut oil have the highest smoke points. Use them for cooking.
When choosing olive oil for dressing, choose only organic cold-pressed extra virgin oil in dark glass bottles. Shake the bottle and watch it. If it remains crystal clear, it means the oil has either been highly processed or chemically refined.

All fresh herbs are very low in carbohydrates. You may be tempted to eat a lot of them on a low-carb diet. Don’t overdo it! Herbs are great for flavoring food, but many contain high amounts of essential oils that can upset your stomach.
All of these leafy greens are great, but there’s one we love the most. Unfortunately it is not sold in the US but there is a way to get it! This is a very hardy herb that can withstand mild summer heat and cold.
Always check the label for sugar, sweeteners and other artificial additives. Do not buy ground flaxseed! It oxidizes very quickly (almost instantly) and becomes useless after only 10-15 minutes. Buy flax seeds and grind them before using them.
Drinking clean water is the best! As recommended by nutritionists, do not drink it or any other liquid during the meal. You don’t want to dilute your stomach acid. Drink 20 minutes before or 1 hour after a meal. This way your digestion will be great and you will get the most nutrients from your keto low carb diet!
What To Eat On A Ketogenic Diet. The Best Keto Friendly Foods
Drinking alcohol while on a keto or low-carb diet is not recommended. In particular, following the Ketodiet will lower your alcohol tolerance, so you may end up with a bad hangover even after a small dose. Plus, drinking alcohol promotes fat storage—the opposite of your keto weight loss goals.
Most spices and seasonings are compatible with a low-carb diet. Just try to avoid pre-made mixes. They may contain some ingredients that are not compatible with the keto diet.
Some vegetables are not good for a low carb diet and some can be eaten every day. Stick to the first 12-15 vegetables on this list and only use the others once a month to be safe.
You can enjoy avocados and olives almost every day, but the rest of this list is only meant to be eaten once a week. Yes, a low-carb diet allows fruit and berries, but note that blueberries contain about 9 net carbs per serving.
