What Is South Beach Diet Plan – I’ve said it many times before, “Meal planning is essential to healthy eating!” It’s very easy for me not to plan meals in the States. I can go to the market every day. I have a million options for ready meals, snacks and desserts at my fingertips. Carbohydrate heaven.

I enjoy this abundance, especially when I return to the United States from rural Mexico. how happy I am very happy and have a solid 5 pounds on the scale to prove it. He frowns. The reality is that Americans are overweight and obese because we have so many choices. From restaurants to junk food aisles, if you have the money, nothing will turn you away.

(You should know that feeding the less fortunate is one of my passions, and it is a fact that the poorest Americans are undernourished and overfed because processed foods are so plentiful and cheap. That’s a topic for another day.)

My weight gain is not from a lack of healthy food, but from my inability to regulate my intake of delicious carbs. In Mexico, I won’t eat ready-made snacks full of scary ingredients, so I make my own: healthy granola with agave syrup, fresh dips and baked corn chips, nuts, olives, cheese, chopped vegetables and fruits

There are snacks for every occasion in the US and I find them all. Pita chips, black licorice, crackers, high calorie nuts and mixed fruit with chocolate chips, cookies, bagels…you see where this goes. Carbohydrate heaven, followed by lethargy, bloating and eventually weight gain.

And that, my friends, is why I’m starting the South Beach Diet to reevaluate my nutritional goals, reduce my carb cravings (addiction), and drop those 5-10 American pounds. Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet is pretty strict with no fruit, grains, sugars or alcohol. High in protein and healthy fats, it should reduce your carb cravings while keeping your hunger at bay. Phase 2 reintroduces complex carbs with limited fruit and whole grains, which will be very close to my regular Mexican diet.

Ahi Tuna Salad: Fresh seafood ahi with ginger, garlic, sesame seeds, soybeans and sesame oil. Brown quickly. Slice and serve over the vegetables with chopped red onion, capers, a drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Chicken Verde: Combine chicken pieces and canned Herdez salsa verde, 1 cup chopped onion and 2 cloves garlic and pressure cook or slow cook. Simply delicious.

Grilled Salmon Salsa: Marinate salmon in pic de gallo or any sauce for 30 minutes. Grill for 10 minutes. Served with grilled courgettes brushed with olive oil.

Cauliflower puree: Boil the cauliflower until smooth, mix with cheddar cheese and low-fat white yogurt and blend until smooth in a food processor.

Lemon Ricotta Dessert: Mix 1 cup skim ricotta with 1 packet stevia or other sweetener, 1 tablespoon lemon zest, and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice.

I’m not sure about you, but I often lose track of a resolution within a few months. Priorities change. I can not help myself. that’s life right? And so, since the last few years, I decide to take life as it comes and only make short-term resolutions. (one month or 2 months).

New to the South Beach Diet? It’s a low-carb, low-sugar, high-protein diet with lots of fresh foods, lean proteins, and less refined or sugary stuff.
