Although both of these diets are considered low-carb diets, they manage to solve the same problem using very different methods. Now, I know 5 pounds of that was definitely water weight and bloat, but it’s still pretty cool to stand on the scale and see the number drop so fast!

I follow the South Beach Diet/meal delivery program and although it takes a lot of work and effort to change bad habits, I’ve found that it’s stupid easy to follow the South Beach Diet without extreme cravings. or succumb to temptation. I’ve only had two pre-planned “cheats” in the last 6 weeks – a small batch of jambalaya for Mardi Gras and a slice of cheesecake for Valentine’s Day – and I don’t feel depressed!
Here are some of my random thoughts/ideas/thoughts about losing 20 pounds over the past 6 weeks:
Sometimes I didn’t feel motivated to eat healthy and be active, but I had to make a conscious decision to stay the course and hope it paid off in the end. The quote “I want to see what happens if I don’t give up” helped me a lot!
Every time I weighed myself and saw a lower number on the scale I was SUPER motivated.. but it usually went away the next day when my number fluctuated. This brings me back to the first point. Some days I didn’t feel motivated, but I just had to keep going!
The Fast Metabolism Diet: Pros, Cons, And What You Can Eat
I started noticing a difference in my clothes just a week ago when I lost 17-18 pounds. I don’t know if it’s because I’m still wearing maternity pants and baggy tops (it’s a HUGE giveaway!), but I’m definitely starting to feel lighter after losing 10 pounds. However, it is interesting to note that my husband who joined the South Beach Diet six weeks ago! – lost 8 pounds in the first two weeks and lost a full pant size for just 8 pounds! So it’s probably something other than human.. I guess?
After the first two weeks, I realized that my junk food cravings just disappeared. When I ate out, went to parties, and ate in social settings, I didn’t feel any pressure to cheat or feel like I was missing out. Another quote I loved was: “Eating healthy is so much easier when you replace ‘I can’t eat that’ with ‘I don’t want to eat that.’
When I started losing weight steadily, EVERYTHING was very cold. THE TIME. I don’t know if it’s related to labor or weight loss (or maybe a little of both?)
