The kids are back in school and the chaos has cleared, so it’s time for me to share a quick update on my diet along with a recipe. Yes, you read that right! I can’t save them all for my book, it’s such a pain!

I’m pretty pleased with myself as I’ve been on my SCD diet for 4 weeks now and I can honestly say I haven’t cheated once (and I’m a huge chocoholic) despite regularly stuffing chocolate under my nose at Easter!
Cooking For The Specific Carbohydrate Diet: Over 125 Easy, Healthy, And Delicious Recipes That Are Sugar Free, Gluten Free, And Grain Free
For those who don’t know about the SCD diet, it’s a diet that excludes grains, starches, and sugar with the goal of balancing gut flora. By avoiding these foods, the theory is that the bad bacteria die, and by eating fermented foods and probiotics, you replace them with “good” bacteria.
When it comes to probiotics, I was contacted by a company making a new probiotic with some serious claims about sorting out IBS, so I jumped at the chance to try them.
These probiotics are called Symprove and I have been asked to try them for 12 weeks and let you know the results. Having had mixed results with probiotics in the past, I am very interested to see if they help. I will of course keep you updated!
So, all in all, it hasn’t been an easy four weeks! The first two in particular were incredibly difficult. I wrote about it here.
Scd Very Berry Pancakes
The last two were not without problems, but they were easier. But this week I decided to go back a bit and cut out the nuts, mostly fruit and honey. These are the items that you can eat in the diet, but do not agree with me, and are generally recommended to be introduced later in the diet.
I used to eat spoonfuls of peanut butter to curb my cravings for sweet things…only to read that it was one of the main culprits in my diet failure. Since my stomach is still not completely happy and I still have problems with candida, I decided to fight the urge to eat it too!
My approach to the diet has always been to do the introductory part – where you eat only meat, fish, eggs and carrots for a few days, and then introduce everything that is allowed on the diet. I knew I needed to listen to my body and potentially eliminate certain things, but I decided this was the best approach to avoid extreme weight loss.
Isn’t it pretty pathetic? Well, I keep thinking positive…it will be worth it when my stomach starts behaving and I can eat anything again! On the plus side, the diet already has a number of noticeable and unexpected side effects.

The first and most immediate was that my hormones started to drop and my PMS symptoms started radiating (it got worse and worse over the past year)! In addition, I have noticed that the eczema on my hands is noticeably better (although not perfect), my stomach is flat (when avoiding the foods listed above), my skin is clearer (fewer blemishes), and my hair loss has stopped. .
At first I thought I was imagining things…but over the past week I’ve definitely noticed a lack of hair around the place!
Am I the only one who loses a handful of hair every time I wash or brush? I always emptied the shower hole and removed the bits from my hair brush. But not anymore! Hair loss stopped when I was pregnant! I should have the thickest, sleekest hair ever!!! I wonder if you will be able to tell when you watch my “cook with me” videos!!
Anyway, the other day I made this wonderful dish and enjoyed it with the whole family. It shows you what foods you can eat on the SCD diet and proves it’s not all bad!

It uses frozen whitefish, which is very cheap and often can’t be nice! But with this meal, you don’t know and it helps stretch our money a little further…which is good when I buy and eat better quality meat than I’m used to (for this diet). reformed vegetarian ‘!).
I served this to the rest of the family with gluten-free and dairy-free garlic soda bread on a nice fresh homemade loaf. I ate it with pumpkin (scallions). I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Preparing meals from SCD-legal foods can sometimes feel more like a chore than something you look forward to. A common complaint I hear in my experience is that individuals feel like they are eating the same thing over and over again.
Of course, there is a good reason for this. Whether you’re on a high-carb diet like nutritional therapy or need to change your diet for inflammatory bowel disease, try to stay within a narrow “safe” range of foods. This makes sense: You don’t want any unnecessary symptoms or waste food if it’s not a “lucky meal”, am I right? However, eating the same food every day can quickly lead to a monotonous eating pattern. Lunch and snacks are usually the biggest struggle and where my clients need the most inspiration to break out of the boredom zone.
Fortunately, a low-carb diet is designed to be liberating, not restrictive. It can restore and heal your gut as part of your treatment regimen. In the process, it can relieve you of unwanted symptoms that drain your energy. It’s energy you can put to good use changing your eating and snacking routine!

There are many options for what you can eat each day, but an important part of understanding a specific carb diet is allowing for evolution and inspiration.
