Not Losing Weight On Fasting Diet – Janielle Wright used the intermittent fasting technique, where you only allow yourself to eat at certain times, to reduce her calorie intake.
At 337 lbs, health and beauty influencer Janielle Wright fears she’ll die. His body aches and he has trouble breathing at night.

“I would go to bed worried that I wouldn’t wake up the next day,” Wright told NBC News BETTER.

She also fears she won’t live to see her 3-year-old daughter, Novah, grow up. Then, at age 28, Wright knew something had to change.
“This is not a way to live thinking you’re going to die because you’re overweight and unhealthy,” she said.
Intermittent fasting is a time-restricted method of eating in which you only allow yourself to eat at certain times of the day.
In January, Wright began her weight loss journey through intermittent fasting. It is a method of eating that restricts the time you allow yourself to eat during a certain window of time. Wright says the method has helped him lose 65 pounds so far.
Does Intermittent Fasting Work? A Science Based Answer
“I prayed and asked [God] to see me through this journey, and to give him consistency and patience, because I feel that patience is the key when it comes to losing weight,” Wright recalled.
Research suggests that weight loss is affected by when we eat as much as we eat, meaning that intermittent fasting can help boost metabolism. There are many methods of intermittent fasting, some more restrictive than others. Wright recommends starting with a less restrictive regimen until your body gets used to it.
Wright started intermittent fasting with the 16:8 method, which involves eating in an 8-hour window and then fasting for 16 hours. He said, he cuts out breakfast, and eats only two meals a day: the first at 12:00 and the last around 8:00 pm.
“I’ve been eating lunch and dinner alone, and it’s meant to keep you from snacking,” Wright explained.
Calorie Restriction With Or Without Time Restricted Eating In Weight Loss
He said he stuck to a low-carb diet, limiting himself to between 1,800 and 2,000 calories a day. He tracked his calories on the MyFitnessPal app.
Other intermittent fasting diets take a different approach. For example, the 5:2 method requires you to eat normally for five days a week, but on two non-consecutive days, you only eat one meal a day. Wright says he spent five months improving his body with the 16:8 method. At that point, he says, he switched to the 20:4 method. Under this method, you fast for 20 hours and have a 4-hour eating window.
Wright says you should be careful when using a more restrictive method such as 20:4. Conditioning your body for long periods of time with such a restrictive method, he says. Because the window of time to eat in the 20:4 method is small, Wright says you have to be careful with your meals and not eat all the calories in one sitting.
“It might take me 30 minutes to digest this,” he said, “and then I’ll eat the rest.”
The Best Weight Loss Diet Comes Down To When—not Just What—you Eat
One of Wright’s favorite things about intermittent fasting is that it lets you decide what kind of food you want to eat (he likes low-carb foods). But he warned against junk food.
“It’s definitely important to eat nutritious food when you eat,” she said. “I feel like if I was intermittent fasting just eating pizza and burgers and fries, I feel like I wouldn’t be as successful as I am now.”
According to him, it is important to consume macronutrients that the body needs (proteins, fats and carbohydrates) and a variety of foods.
“I’ll have egg whites and spinach, and I’ll have carrots on the side … [or] maybe I’ll have chicken breast with quinoa on the side,” Wright said.

Fasting for a long time can be boring. That’s why Wright allows himself three meals a month. Whether it’s nachos, Chinese takeout or a Subway sandwich, diet cheats help her stay balanced, she says. But he warned not to overdo it.
Wright incorporated exercise into her weight loss routine, working out six days a week. Since she initially had a lot of weight to lose, she was careful not to push herself too hard in the beginning – walking lightly for 15 minutes on the treadmill every day.
“But as I got more comfortable with the treadmill, I increased the time and increased the speed and gravity,” he said.
After seven months, Wright was walking on the treadmill for about 45 minutes a day. It has big slopes and keeps it at a very high pace. Then he does about 30 minutes of high-intensity interval training.
Ways Intermittent Fasting Helps You Lose Weight
Wright says fasting has been beneficial because it has taught him self-control. The rule required him to stop eating at 8:00 p.m., which prevented him from snacking before bed.
“It helps me not to go into the kitchen at night and eat cake or ice cream at night,” Wright said. “And I think that’s why it works because it teaches you to be disciplined about when you eat your food.”
When you’re constantly fasting, Wright explains, it’s easy to become obsessive about timing your meals. He said it is important not to over schedule.
“Don’t bother over time if it makes sense,” Wright said. “Say, it’s okay to rest for a few minutes — 10, 15 minutes. It’s okay.”

The key to success with intermittent fasting is consistency and not losing patience, Wright advises.
“I think consistency is the key,” he said. “For you to see [the difference], you have to be consistent.”
She says it took her years to get down to 337 pounds, so it’s important to understand that even losing weight takes a long time. At 272 lbs., Wright’s weight loss journey is far from over. But now she says she can do things she couldn’t, such as her legs when she sits and gets down on the floor to play with her daughter.
“Losing this weight has been a blessing, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me,” Wright said. Her goal is to lose 100 pounds by the end of the year.

Why Am I Not Losing Weight When I Exercise And Diet
I do not call it a diet, although this recipe can help you lose unwanted weight. It’s more of a lifestyle change to be honest, and one that pays off when you make it a habit.
