Military Diet 4 Days Off – If you’ve been looking for a new diet to try, or just scrolled through healthy recipes on Pinterest, chances are you’ve come across the “military diet.” It’s a new fad diet that promises to help you lose 10 pounds in about a week—more if you’re lucky. It is said to be named after a technique used by the military to help new recruits lose weight. But what’s the real deal with this diet? Does it work as well as its proponents claim—and can you really eat ice every day while doing it? We took a close look at the meal plan.
There is not much reliable information available about how the military diet plan was started—or, if so, who started it. MilitaryDiet.co and TheMilitaryDiet.com, the two main resource sites for the diet, are both run by fans and advocates of the diet without mentioning health professionals. According to them, however, the military diet plan is an intermittent fasting diet that combines three days of a strict, low-calorie meal plan with four days of eating whatever you want (as long as it’s under also of calorie intake).
Military Diet 4 Days Off
On each of the planned three days, the military diet meal plan is strict: you can only consume about 1,000 to 1,400 calories. Our calculations put most days around 1,150 calories. For the next four days, you should aim to keep your calorie intake under 1,500 calories. For reference, the US Government’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion says that moderately active adult men need about 2,200-2,800 calories per day, and moderately active adult women need about about 1,800-2,000 calories per day.

No – and it’s not just the name of the diet. Some know it from the Navy Diet, the Army Diet, or even the Ice Cream Diet, because the three-day menu includes at least a few bites of vanilla ice cream every night. Personally, we like to think it’s called the military diet because it takes military self-control to stick to a strict meal plan.
For the first three days, the diet consists of three different meal plans. For the first day, breakfast consists of half a grapefruit, a piece of whole wheat toast with two tablespoons of peanut butter and a cup of caffeinated black tea or coffee. If you cannot drink it black, it is recommended to sweeten it with a natural sugar substitute, such as stevia. For lunch, eat half a cup of tuna, a slice of whole wheat toast and a second cup of black coffee or tea. Dinner is the more filling meal, consisting of three ounces of meat, a cup of green beans, half a banana, a small apple, and a cup of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
The second day was lighter fare. For breakfast, have a slice of whole grain toast, an egg cooked to your liking, and half a banana. Lunch is a cup of cottage cheese, a hard-boiled egg, and five (yes, count them) saltine crackers. Dinner included two hot dogs (just the hot dogs themselves, no buns or condiments), a cup of broccoli, half a cup of carrots, half a banana and half a cup of vanilla ice cream.
The third day was the brightest day so far. Breakfast is a slice of cheddar cheese, a small apple and five saltine crackers. For lunch, have a slice of whole wheat toast and an egg cooked to your liking. When dinner rolls around, you can have a cup of tuna, half a banana, and a full cup of vanilla ice cream.
I Tried The Military Diet For A Week And Lost No Weight
Basically, whatever you want – but you’re only allotted 1,500 calories a day, so your best bet is to stick to healthy fare if you want to be full. The advantage is that instead of limiting yourself to the menu prepared for you for the first three days, you can divide these calories as you wish. You can fill up on salad, eat lots of small fruit snacks throughout the day, or focus on your proteins. It’s up to you and what you decide.
When you go to the market, be sure to focus on generally healthy fare, as you’ll need at least a week’s worth of food. But for planned meals specifically, here’s what you need to add to your 3-day military diet shopping list:
If you don’t eat meat—or any animal products, for that matter—or if you have a food allergy, you can replace everything on the meal plan with foods that have a similar calorie count and provide the same nutrients. . For example, instead of eating half a cup of tuna, you can eat about 2/3 cup of tofu. Instead of eating eggs for breakfast, you can drink a cup of soy milk. On the second day of the military diet, cottage cheese replacement ideas include 15 to 20 almonds. Almonds also work to reduce the crunch of cheddar cheese. And instead of peanut butter, you can spread almond butter or sunflower butter on your toast for breakfast on the first day.
The longer answer, according to MilitaryDiet.co, is that it “contains carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats, all of which are necessary for optimal body function.” At least in theory. But the short answer is that you are seriously limiting your calorie consumption. As mentioned, moderately active adult women need about 1,800-2,000 calories per day, so by following the military diet plan, you’re effectively cutting your calories in half. And even if you enjoy the ice cream, most of the dishes on the menu are also becoming quite slim.
A 3 Day A Week Diet? How The Military Diet Eating Plan Works
Again, there is a simple short answer: Yes. By severely limiting your calorie intake, your body will burn more than it needs to, and you’ll lose weight quickly, possibly even the 10 pounds a week that others who try the diet say. However, the diet itself is only designed for one week. If you’re looking for a jump start on your weight loss journey, this could be a great place to start. But if you’re looking to make healthy changes in your life, long-term solutions may be more appropriate.
Although this diet helps you lose weight fast, while you eat ice cream and stay on a budget, the fact that you consume fewer calories than you burn in a day means that eventually you will run out. A healthy lifestyle requires eating healthy foods and exercising. A diet with this low calorie intake will not give your body enough energy to burn when you are looking to exercise or be a more active part of your daily life.
