Although five days may seem a bit overwhelming for a beginner, Crystal challenges readers to find what works best for them. As for her journey, Krystal admits, “I read a lot about the health benefits of fasting, and with the ketogenic diet, fasting came naturally as my hunger levels decreased.”

With so many intermittent fasting resources available, not all information you find online can be trusted. Inappropriate or false sources can give IF a bad reputation, something Crystal experienced firsthand.

“Perhaps the biggest challenge is understanding other people’s perceptions of fasting and dispelling the notion that not eating is dangerous or an eating disorder,” Crystal said. “I’ve found that knowing why I’m doing what I’m doing helps me focus.”

What about the misconception that intermittent fasting is not good for your health? “I had my annual exam a few months ago and had blood work done,” Crystal explains. “I’m in the best of health!”
