Low Carb Vs. Keto Vs. Carnivore And My 3 Year Update
I want to share everything about my weight loss journey with you, but before we start, it’s important to know this:

Be the best, have the most energy and look on the outside the way I feel on the inside when making healthy eating choices. For me, it’s pure keto.
Naturally, being thin doesn’t come naturally to me. I need to change what I eat to get to a happy weight.
Week 3 Update!
In September 2019, I am determined to lose weight, feel better, have more energy, and be the best version of myself.
During my first phase of weight loss, I ate pure keto, did intermittent fasting, and ran for 30 minutes a day. (All details in more detail below!)
In April 2020 (after reaching my “happy size”), I was lucky enough to become pregnant with my third son (yay!), born in January 2021.
Pregnancy doesn’t feel like the time to gain weight (especially in the 1st and 3rd trimesters, yay!). I made mostly healthy choices, but also allowed myself a lot of indulgences. Because sandwiches and ice cream are delicious and very important when you’re pregnant, yay!
The Results From The Two Week Keto Challenge Were Really Impressive
I gained 51 pounds during my pregnancy, which was 100% worth it for my sweet son Luke.
At 9 weeks postpartum, I started feeling the urge to get back on track with pure keto. Mostly to have more energy to take care of my three boys.
I start round 2 of my pure keto journey on March 22, 2021. This time I will just focus on pure keto eating. I’m not worried about intermittent fasting (too hungry while breastfeeding!), and unfortunately I haven’t found time to squeeze in a dedicated workout (yet!). I’m still pregnant!
After I shared my weight loss results on Instagram, I got a lot of questions about everything I did to lose weight.

Short answer: After completing a few rounds of Whole30 and feeling very comfortable with my food freedom, I learned which foods are okay for me to give up (for me, sugar, grains, or dairy ‘q!) I went here. took my weight loss to the next level. I eat a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet that is mostly All30 friendly foods. I eat monk fruit, grass-fed dairy, and the occasional beer.

Reasons Why You’re Not Seeing Results On Keto
Short answer: The whole point of Whole30 is to teach you how to have a healthy relationship with food, how to eat healthy, and which foods make you feel great and which foods to avoid. The program also wants you to know all the ingredients in your food and avoid anything processed.
The focus of keto is to eat a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet to get your body into ketosis, which is when your body starts burning fat for fuel rather than carbs/sugar.

How To Do A Ketogenic Diet And Get Results That Last!
Short answer: I strictly track my macros for the first 2 or 3 weeks. Now I know how many carbs and how much fat I’m eating every day. I don’t worry about calories or trying ketones for ketosis.
Long answer: At the end of this post, I’ll explain more about why I guess my macros rather than track them closely.
Short answer: The first phase of weight loss in 2019, yes! For the first 8 months I did a strict fast, eating my calories in an 8 hour window from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. I don’t have any calories outside of the fasting window, but I have regular tea with 0 calories. I notice a big increase in energy after fasting indefinitely. I like you!
Now for the 2nd round of weight loss after the birth of my son in 2021, I will not fast indefinitely. Most of the time since I’ve been breastfeeding I’m very hungry and I don’t feel the need to limit my eating window. I am still losing weight (I lost 14 kilos in a month!). I understand that it’s not about WHEN you eat, it’s about WHAT you eat.
