On keto, your body uses ketones from fat instead of glucose from carbohydrates. Some people get keto rash (prurigo pigmentosa) – an inflammatory condition of the skin including a red, itchy rash. The rash usually appears on the neck, upper back, chest and stomach.

How Can I Prevent Keto Hot Flashes? Because the causes of keto hot flashes aren’t clear, it’s hard to pinpoint how to treat or prevent them. Here are some possible ways to prevent keto flares: 1) There are no unhealthy foods that can cause irritating skin conditions. Deficiencies in vitamins B-12, A, and C have been linked to severe and chronic skin conditions. If your diet is too restrictive, you may not be getting enough of these important vitamins and minerals. Try eating a variety of healthy foods that are low in carbohydrates and keto-friendly fruits, some high protein, and healthy fats. The goal is well-prepared and nutritious food. You should also consider your electrolytes. You can replace certain electrolytes, such as magnesium, sodium, or potassium to help regulate your metabolism [5].
2) Check for food allergies Acne can be caused by food allergies or sensitivities that cause inflammation. On the high-fat, low-carb keto diet, some of the most common foods include eggs, dairy, nuts, seeds, and fish. Some keto dieters also eat less fruit and whole grains like oats. Keeping a food diary and checking how or if your skin condition changes after eating certain foods can help. Sometimes food intake is caused by intestinal dysbiosis and problems with the digestive system. You can try an autoimmune paleo diet or a paleo keto style diet where you eliminate certain foods, for at least two or three months, before adding them back in and monitoring the reaction. While in some cases a more restrictive diet may help, in others it is a matter of different microbial species in the gut. Eating a variety of foods that contain a variety of nutrients can provide you with a variety of beneficial bacteria in your digestive system, which can help with inflammation. For example, change the green leafy vegetables you eat. Use kale for a day or two and replace it with arugula, spinach, or bok choy. This allows you to get a variety of vitamins and nutrients. You can also try bone broth to help with digestive issues. Bone marrow is full of nutrients, antioxidants and amino acids, and studies have shown that the gelatin and collagen in broth can treat intestinal ailments such as inflammatory diseases [6, 7, 8]. 4). You can start with a moderate to low carb diet for a gradual introduction and transition to a keto lifestyle. Eating less protein has also been shown to cause keto hot flashes. If changing your carb intake doesn’t work, try increasing your protein intake!

5) Add Anti-Inflammatory Foods and Supplements If skin allergies are related to inflammation, anti-inflammatory foods and supplements can help. In clinical research, probiotics, prebiotics, fish oil, and vitamin D have been used to improve dermatitis symptoms [9]. Evening Primrose oil can also be a good choice according to the current literature [10]. Eat anti-inflammatory foods, such as low-carb fruits and vegetables that contain flavonoids, such as berries, onions and kale. Studies show that flavonoids and other compounds in food have anti-inflammatory properties [11, 12]. Try to take good care of your skin and you can use lukewarm water for bathing and showering and choose gentle soaps and cleansers that won’t irritate your skin. Soften your skin and relax your body with other natural products, like coconut oil! If it’s healthy and safe to eat, it’s better put into your body than some unknown chemical you can’t pronounce.
