Most mornings I sit down with MyFitnessPal and enter the food I ate for the day until the calories and macros come up to meet my goals.
List Of Low Carb Meal Plans & Shopping List
This week my goal is to plan for a daily goal of 1,200 calories high in protein and low in carbs. The low-fat piece comes naturally because I prefer low-fat foods.
A low-calorie diet has been shown to cause weight loss regardless of macro breakdown. However, for these 1,200 calories, high protein, low carb, low fat, the total is: 1,151 cal / 153 g protein, 86 g carbs, 16 g fat. If you count the macros, it’s close: 55% protein, 30% carbs, and 15% fat
When I make a calorie-targeted meal plan, I meal plan with fewer calories, not more. I didn’t hit my calorie target for a number of reasons.
First of all, it is difficult to accurately determine the number of calories you eat in food. Different tools, different reporting methods, and different products vary in calorie range.

But the biggest reason the plan is just under 1,200 calories is because we eat so many things that often go unnoticed. Snacks, snacks, dips, vegetables, vitamins, gum, and even sugar-free foods actually contain calories.
So at the end of the day, you’re probably closer to 1,200 calories, even if you think you’re eating too little.

I’ve been asked many times to come up with an authentic Mediterranean diet meal plan, and when we say authentic, we mean it! The reason is that most of the “Mediterranean Diet” meal plans I see online are anything but. Sorry, but edamame beans, small amounts of olive oil, canola oil, bacon at every meal, etc. not part of the Mediterranean diet.
