Phew 5 days gone, 5 more to go!! I can do this. You can do it! You know how much I love diets, detoxes and cleanses! I do not know why. Maybe this is everyone’s challenge. Diet or detox number and I’m game!
So now I’m right in the middle of JJ Smith’s 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse! This is my second time trying this detox. I’m doing MUCH better this round hahaha.
I know many of you will be following me starting Monday! I decided to move on so that I don’t get caught up in blogging this and I can tell you my views sooner rather than later.

Have you heard of the 10 day green smoothie cleanse? I usually use green kale soup when I need to drop a few pounds, but this cleanse really intrigued me. The success stories are crazy and since I love smoothies… what!?
Here are the grocery lists for days 1-5 (I don’t post recipes on this site out of respect for the author. You have to buy the book, which is important because it’s packed with EVERYTHING you need to know, tips, extra recipes, and more. It’s always on sale, and it’s on sale now on Amazon for $8.99)
2. Take measurements and weigh myself: I weighed 141.0 lbs. I’m 5’0 so this is considered overweight. I’m more than happy to have all this fluff minus the belly! That’s what I hope to lose by doing this cleanse.
3. Eat the last meal: This is not in the book hahaha, but before every diet restriction I ALWAYS have the last meal I want. My last meal was a grilled Philly cheesesteak, fries and cold iced tea. And a big piece of chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Very good.

4. Did I prepare: To prepare for success, I made a motivational calendar where I mark each day. Something about checking things off and seeing a deadline helps me stay focused. I gave myself little treats along the way, like the pedicure on day 4. I also prepped the smoothie ingredients for the next morning so I didn’t have to measure anything. Just pour and stir. If you have to go to work, I recommend making all the snacks and smoothies the night before.
Here is a list of snacks you can eat on the 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse. Feel free to snack whenever you’re hungry, but only with these products. Some of these items are not in the book, but the author posted them on a Facebook fan page because people asked for more snack options. These are the only snacks allowed.
Snacks that I have loved and loved over the last 5 days are: (I will post another snack series in my days -10 review)
PREPARATION: Cut 2 apples (I used granny smith & gala) into slices. Sprinkle with lemon juice. In a small bowl, heat 3 tablespoons of peanut butter until melted. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of apple pie and 1/8 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour over the apples and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of crushed cashews or walnuts.

PREPARATION: Split two hard-boiled eggs in half. Scoop the yolk into a bowl. Add 1-2 tablespoons cashew ranch dip (recipe below) and a few drops of water to create a creamy filling. Season with smoked sea salt, black pepper, dill and chives until the desired taste is achieved. Garnish with smoked paprika and chives.
PROCEDURE: Soak 1 cup of raw cashews in water for 2 hours. Drain the water and put the cashews in a food processor. Add 3/4 cup water, 1 teaspoon garlic, 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon dill, 1 1/2 teaspoons parsley, 1 teaspoon chives, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (you can also add onion powder if desired). Mix until creamy. Season with sea salt and black pepper to bring out the flavor. Store in the refrigerator. *NOTE* You can flavor it as you like, you can make it sweet with cinnamon and stevia or salty. If you don’t like ranch, just add your favorite spices. This is the creamy foundation you are looking for!
PREPARATION: Peel 1 cucumber. Cut crosswise into about 1 1/2-inch slices. Cut a portion in the middle into a bowl. Using a teaspoon helps with carving. Set aside. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup of tuna, 3-4 tablespoons of cashew dip, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, a good pinch of cayenne, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of coriander, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder. Add sea salt and black pepper. Taste and adjust the spices to your liking. Spoon the filling into the cucumber cup.
PREPARATION: In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup finely chopped broccoli, 1/4 cup tuna, 2 tablespoons cashew dip, 1 tablespoon diced yellow pepper, 1 tablespoon red onion. Season with smoked sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder and cumin.

Day 1: The morning started well. I’m all set and ready to go! Drink my detox tea instead of coffee. I really miss my morning coffee. The smoothie is really good after a few additions. This afternoon came with a severe headache and fatigue and I am very irritable. I know this is a coffee withdrawal headache. I don’t feel hungry, but I want to feel full (hard to explain.) I really miss pasta and hot cheese pizza! I made chicken nuggets for dinner for the family and ate several of them. Kind of bummed about that, but god, they’re so good. I wish I could make dinner for a few days. It’s hard to smell food and prepare food, and you can’t take samples. I can’t stop thinking about food! I went to bed at 7:30. I’m so tired.
*Tip* Take pain meds as soon as you start feeling detox symptoms (headaches, body aches, etc.) I tried to tough it out and when it hit, the pain meds couldn’t handle the pain. Cruel! I recommend starting a weekend cleanse if you are detoxing from caffeine and sugar. If I were to do this cleanse again, I would wean myself off coffee slowly, maybe start with half a cup in the morning instead of cold turkey. It wasn’t worth what I felt.
Day 2: I woke up refreshed but with 4 pimples on my cheeks. All that’s left is a mild headache. The smoothie was quite tasty and of course I added something sweeter to it! Like yesterday, the headache and extreme fatigue hit me like a ton of bricks in the afternoon. I’m really tired. I took a 2 hour nap (never fell asleep) and dragged myself through the day. I feel like I’m in a different state of mind, very foggy thinking and blah. The gas and bloating is horrible! I’m ready to get over this. I know these are detox symptoms. I’m super moody and my dark circles are darker.
