The reason I recommend heating the water is to ensure that the powdered sweetener is completely dissolved and the process works much faster and better at higher temperatures.
Bring a cup of water to a boil in a pan over medium heat and pour in the powdered sweetener. Stir until the sweetener is completely dissolved, meaning you can’t see any small lumps of sugar.
Remove the pan from the heat. Cut the lemons in half and squeeze the juice with a lemon squeezer or a fork. Read my recipe to make this without a juicer.

Pour the keto lemonade into a jar and store in the refrigerator to chill.
Add half a dozen ice cubes to a large glass and pour cold homemade lemonade over it.
Cut two slices of fresh lemon and garnish the glass to enhance the lemon flavor. You can also add fresh mint leaves for a green touch.
I recommend using a powdered sweetener to make it easier to dissolve. You can use Swerve, any stevia erythritol blend, or monk fruit erythritol blend.

Proper hydration is essential for blood sugar regulation, as your body removes excess glucose through urine. The Institute of Medicine recommends 13 glasses of water per day for men and 9 glasses of water for women.
While we have some great options to check out, it’s important to remember that none of them should replace water consumption.

Unsweetened tea: Tea has many health benefits that can be beneficial for people with diabetes. Sugar-free tea is a sugar-free drink that has antioxidant properties and helps hydrate your body. Unsweetened green tea, black tea, and herbal tea are diabetes-friendly options!
Milk: Milk in moderation can be an excellent choice for people with diabetes. It contains a combination of fats, carbohydrates and proteins that balance blood sugar and is considered a low glycemic food.
Homemade lemonade: Squeeze a piece of lemon into the water and enjoy fresh lemonade! Add some mint if you like!
Sugar-free coffee: Add milk or cinnamon for a blood sugar-friendly option. In general, I recommend drinking coffee instead of energy drinks for a caffeine boost. Or tea if you’re not up for coffee.

Sparkling water: Try sparkling water to change things up a bit. Brands like LaCroix, Waterloo and Bubbly are readily available at your local grocery store.
Unsweetened tea: Brands like Gold Peak Unsweetened Iced Tea, Lipton Unsweetened Iced Tea, and Bigelow Green Tea can be found at your local grocery store.
It’s important to know that high-sugar liquids, such as fruit juice, can affect blood sugar levels more quickly than whole fruit. Unlike whole fruit, fruit juice contains a small amount of fiber. This means that fruit juice does not offer the same fiber benefits as whole fruit. Fiber slows the digestion and absorption of sugar into the blood. The ADA recommends no more than 4 ounces of 100% fruit juice per day.

Additionally, fruit juice can be a great option for quick treatment of low blood sugar. To treat low blood sugar, drink 4 ounces of fruit juice, wait 15 minutes, and check your blood sugar again.
Orange juice: Orange juice can be used to treat low blood sugar in people with diabetes. Choose a brand that contains 100% fruit juice. OJ can be part of a healthy blood sugar meal when paired with moderate amounts of fat, fiber, and protein.
Apple juice: Compared to orange juice, apple juice has less sugar and carbohydrates, making it a better treatment for low blood sugar than orange juice. Again, choose a brand that contains 100% fruit juice, and if you want to enjoy apple juice when your blood sugar isn’t low, enjoy it as part of a meal with added fat, fiber and protein. .
Grape juice: Grape juice usually has the highest amount of carbohydrates and sugar compared to orange and apple juice, so it can be a good choice for treating low blood sugar.
Diet Snapple Rebrands As Zero Sugar Snapple
Milk can be an excellent diabetes-friendly beverage choice. It contains the perfect combination of protein and fat to stabilize blood sugar. However, cow’s milk contains carbohydrates, so it should be included in the daily number of carbohydrates. Whether you choose whole, skim, or skim milk, all have 12 g of carbs in an 8-ounce glass.
Whole milk: Whole milk (3.25% milk fat) can be a great snack choice because it contains protein, fat and carbohydrates. While whole milk has the highest fat content of the three types of milk, it also has the highest amount of omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for brain and heart health.
And for a milk drink with probiotics, plain kefir or slightly sweetened kefir are excellent protein-rich choices.
Unsweetened almond milk can be a great plant-based milk option for people with diabetes. However, several different varieties of almond milk are flavored and sweetened. If you choose to drink almond milk (or any other plant-based milk), choose an option with no added sugar, usually labeled “sugar-free.” Most plant-based milks labeled “original” or “regular” are actually sweetened.
